Youth Leadership Fayette Class

Youth Leadership Fayette is similar in content to the Leadership Fayette Class, but the focus is on building young leaders in our community and showing them the many elements that are part of a successful community. The program is a joint effort of the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce and the Fayette County Development Authority.

Open to 20 to 25 high school students (upon recommendation by their schools and selection by the Youth Leadership Committee), the program is intensive and spans a three-month period from January to March.

Classes typically include sessions focused on:

  • Judicial and Law Enforcement systems, highlighted with visits to the County Justice Center and Jail
  • Local businesses including a tour of a local company
  • State legislative process with a visit to the Georgia Capitol, and, if possible, witnessing legislative sessions in action
  • City governments, including a meeting with local mayors and elected officials
  • Community Services such as Fayette Senior Services
  • Emergency services such as Fire and EMS
  • Economic development process
